Growth and Fixed Mindset

dobrodumov

A growth mindset involves being open to challenges, being flexible, taking risks, setting goals, and looking towards reaching higher goals. They need to be able to challenge themselves and try. Just like, practice makes perfect, students need to challenge their brains. Their brain is like powerful sponge. They can soak up all the intelligence and new learning. When students have a teacher who pushes them to do their best, they perform better than other students who did not have teachers who encouraged their success. When students encounter errors or challenges, they process and correct them. They need to think critically and in real-world solutions. They need to dream big and not just local. In today’s society, they need real-world critical thinking skills and build grit. A fixed growth mindset involves a view that they can only do the minimum. They are not rewarded for trying. They only do the basics and do not want to perform higher. They do not set goals and do not take confidence in reacher their full potential. These students do not take risks and do not form stronger connections. They also can not truly improve their grit. These students might not be motivated to learn. If students are struggling, they might not want to perform higher. They can come from different backgrounds, poor social-economic status, lack of resources, or quality teachers. These students are viewed at their level and are seen as unable to achieve greatness, and they will believe it. References Briceno, E. (2012, November 18).
