Implementation Outline

The blended learning model implementation for Special Education classroom at Elementary School. 

​

1. Research Phase:

Winter 2022

1.1.Defining academic goals: 

  • Monitor elementary schools in our school district that use blended learning (BL) models. 

  • Identify teachers and students who use BL to send them a questionary google form about the pros and cons of current BL models.  

  •  Collect data.

  •  Organize Zoom meeting with participant teachers to discuss the data.

  • Sum up the results of the meeting in a report.

  • Send the report to the principal and the Special Education department.

  • Define with the Special Education department BL models to use in my classroom,  timeline, budgets, staff learning goals, infrastructure objectives, and curriculum deployment activities.

  • Collaborate with the Digital learning department to discuss suitable education software for defined BL models.

1.2. Building support:

  • Student & family support

1.3. Work on the budget:

  • Observe and discuss possible fundings with the principal and the Special Education department, such as Federal funds, State and local funds, local donors.

2. Planning 

Spring 2022

2.1 Define strategy and timeline:

  • Inform parents about implementing BL for the next school year.

​

2.2. Define instructional models:

  • Get approval from the Special Education department to launch BL models.

​

2.3. Define platform and content.

​

2.4. Define the number of necessary Chromebooks with the Technology department.

​

2.5. Staffing and development

  • Provide education software training for involved staff.

  • Provide training for students to explain how to navigate new software.

  • Develop a reflection survey for students.

​

2.6. Set the goals for BL for teachers and students

​

3. Implementation 

Fall-Winter 2022

​

3.1 Culture

  • Define values

  • Promote equality

  • Encourage good habits 

  • Collaborations between teachers and student

​

3.2. Infrastructure: 

  • Work on classroom facilities 

  • Installation and upgrade devices, headphones, charges.

​

3.3. Beginning of implementation:

  • Introduce a new learning concept -BL for students.

  • Set rules and expectations.

  • Divide students into groups for rotation

​

3.4. Integration:

  • Provide teachers, students, and parents access to an integrated reporting system.

  • Track technology usage data

  • Modify BL models after the first grading period

​

3.5. Ongoing professional development 

  • Prepare all staff—instructional and non—for deep changes in the nature of teaching and learning

  • Integrate new tools and keep up with ongoing innovation and new technologies.

  • Access and use real-time data to drive planning and intervention. 


3.6. Communication 

  •  Build a community advisory committee of influential parents and school 

  • Establish clear communication goals

  • Deliver key messages through visuals, video, and vivid language

  • Overlay the calendar of implementation events with communications milestones, activities, and tasks

  • Communicate with diverse stakeholder groups (board, community, parents) about new approaches

  • Provide students with a survey to identify areas of improvement in December.

  • Discuss midterm results with the Special Education department


4. Evaluate

Spring 2023

4.1. Compare students’ results before and after BL.

4.2. Meet with the Special Education department to discuss the results. 

4.3. Make adjustments. 

4.4. Promote BL for the next school year.
