The 4DX model addresses change logistics: it helps you lay out what needs to happen for your grand plan to come together and succeed. This model gives me actual steps to follow to implement blended learning in Special Education units at my school district.
Following these four Disciplines of Execution are crucial for a successful change process:
Focus Wildly Important- you need to focus on less to accomplish more. It will be easier to choose one most important goal and work on it. You need to define your starting line and finish line. I will focus on implementing blended learning daily in Special Educations units. My blended learning models will launch in August 2022 and finish in May 2023.
Act on Lead Measures. There are two kinds of measures: 1)Lags -track the success of the wildly important goal, it measures the past information, and it is impossible to fix them; 2)Lead-track activities that drive a lag measure; they predict lag- measure success and influence directly by the team. I will pay attention to teachers’ training on blended learning models, which eventually affect students’ satisfaction with new blended learning models.
Create a Compelling Scoreboard. It is an essential element for success. That’s why I would like to establish a competition between classes that will implement a blended learning model. The team needs to see progress in real-time.
Create a Cadence of Accountability. Regular and frequent team meetings that focus on the Wildly Important Goal. In my case, I will implement weekly meetings between teachers with blended learning classrooms to track the success.
It is hard to apply them immediately. They require time to adjust because it forces us to work differently.
